You may be eligible for a Habitat home if you have lived in Jackson County for at least one year and meet the 3 guidelines: need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner.
1. I have need! The housing I live in is at least one of the following:
- Overcrowded
- Poorly maintained (substandard)
- In a dangerous neighborhood
- I'm living with a relative or friend
2. I have the ability to pay and have decent credit!
- I owe less than $2,000.00 in total debt and do not have a lot of unpaid collections (please call us if your debt is primarily student loans or medical bills).
- I have not declared bankruptcy in the last 18 months.
- I pay my rent on time.
- I have had stable income for the last year.
3. I am willing to partner with Habitat!
- I am willing to partner with Habitat and put in 500 hours (or 250 if you are a single parent) of "sweat equity", first working on another families home if available, then building my own. I will also attend budget classes and monthly homeowner workshops as available.
